Demi is all alone in the world. She has a job and one friend. That’s it. Except there is Viv, an elderly woman with Parkinson’s disease that Demi helps feed every now and then. Viv’s son, Pope is out of jail and Viv wants them to meet. Demi is unsure of the entire thing. Her life free falls out of control and before she knows it, she is kidnapped and being trained as a proper bride. She has to do it if not her friend will pay the price of her disobedience with her life. Can Demi pull this off? Can she set herself aside for her friend?

Pope is just out of jail for something he didn’t do. His mom is out of control and he needs to get her away from people before she ruins everything for him again. Then he finds out what she did. This can’t end well. For no one. Not even his mom. Pope plays along with the game in hopes that it will ease things, but what he doesn’t bargain for is giving up his heart in the process. What about his mom? What about her plan? And what about his life?

I was not expecting this to happen at all. Yeah, I read the blurb, but still….shocked!! It was a quick story, that kept my interest. Could I have done what Demi did? Nope. Sorry bestie. I would have tried, but when the woman touched me, I’d have been out and the creepiness to the mom – OMG! NOPE.
