I’ve had this book for years and just now picked it up to read. It was time to tackle the heavy story of Acheron. To say I was NOT prepared for it is an understatement. This story is heartbreaking, yet beautiful. I’m not going to do it justice that’s for sure. Take the risk.
Acheron is the story of a loved son, who is sent away for a chance to live. Only the life he is delt is worse than death. From a young age, he is sent away to live with his Uncle who uses him in every way and lets everyone else use him too. Acheron is raised to serve, be abused, be used. Shown no love, no compassion, nothing from anyone. Except for his sister, Ryssa. She can only do so much. Her father and brother, Styxx want him out of their lives. Ryssa has a soft spot for him.
Finally, when he is brought home, to the palace, it’s because they need to keep him alive, so Styxx lives. Not because they care. Not because they want to welcome him into the family. All the while the goddess Artemis pops in and out of his life. Using him, just like everyone else. He grows tired of her and her games. Yet, he calls on her in hard times.
Time goes by, Acheron rules his world and learns the new world. For thousands of years, he wanders the Earth. Alone. Can that change for him? Will Artie step away and let him find happiness?
