Book Review – Vampire Mate

46028099. sy475 Warrior. Vampire. Soulmate?

The first book in the smoking hot vampire warrior series by L.J. Red.
In the supernatural underworld of Chicago, vampire warrior Lucian has met his match.

Brutally dangerous and scorchingly sexy, Lucian is the leader of the Shadows, elite vampire warriors caught in a deadly battle against the wild and power-hungry vampires who want to rain terror on humankind.

Lucian doesn’t believe in soulmates but from the moment he meets Dana, all he wants is to possess her completely. His iron control is beginning to fray and when it snaps, there’s nothing in the world that will stop him from taking her.

Dana’s a cop on the trail of a blood-crazed vampire tearing through Chicago. She doesn’t want anything to do with vampire politics but when she overhears a plot to kill the leader of the Shadows, she knows she has no choice but to warn him.

Braving the dark, seductive world of the vampire elite, she’s helpless to resist the powerful bond she feels the moment she meets Lucian.

Can they catch the killer before the fire raging between them burns the city down?

Dark themes and steamy, sensual scenes. These alpha male vampires are vicious, brutal warriors who will stop at nothing to protect their fated mates.

Book Review (1).png

I liked it, but yet it didn’t hold my interest the entire time. I started to skim after 50%. It wasn’t hard to figure out who the Monster of Chicago was. I say let the vamps run Chicago – maybe they can clean it up better than humans.

Dana is a cop, she gets the drop on some vampire activity and needs to let the vamps know. Only the vamps and humans don’t get along, unless the vamps are using the human’s for blood. Sneaking in she looks for the Shadow who is going to get whacked. Once she relays the message, she follows the guy who took it and realizes that he’s the Shadow. From there they go on a quest to find the Monster, save the vamps, and win over Chicago.

I wasn’t impressed with Lucian or Dana. Lucian fell flat for me as a vamp. He was moody, he hand fangs, and he drank blood. But there was nothing about him that made me what him to bite me and be his soulmate. Neal on the other hand. I can’t wait to read his story and he only had a small blurb in this story!!

Dana is your stereo typical cop. Lives at the station, has no friends but the people she works with. Always working. I’ve seen and read enough of these characters. Even her bond to Lucian seemed odd to me. Usually when there is a bond, the further away they get they hurt more and more. Dana hurt, but she was so focused on her case that her pain was secondary. To me that should have been the forefront of her problems.

Book Review – Faking Ms. Right

45183911. sy475 “When I kissed you last night, I wasn’t pretending.”

Everly Dalton is a walking, talking, martini-drinking dating disaster. Forget kissing frogs. She can’t even get past the first date. But at work, she’s a badass—the longest-running assistant billionaire Shepherd Calloway has ever had. Her coworkers wonder how she handles the big bad wolf—and never gets bit.

Shepherd Calloway isn’t interested in being anyone’s sugar daddy. Tired of women who only want him for his money, he swears off dating, determined to focus on running his empire. Until his gold-digging ex hits him where it hurts, putting him in a difficult position.

His solution—to have Everly pose as his live-in girlfriend—is obviously crazy. But the timing is uncanny. It just so happens Everly needs a favor from her boss—a big and awkward one—and this could ensure everyone gets what they want.

Besides, Everly can totally survive a few months of faux romance.

Except there’s a problem. Shepherd is supposed to be a single-minded, unemotional robot boss. Not an actual human with a heart and morning wood. Between the awkward bed-sharing and tingly fake dates, lines are blurring. And as Everly gets to know the real Shepherd, she discovers there’s more to the man behind the bank account.

And faking it gets all too real.

Faking Ms. Right is a hot, STAND-ALONE romantic comedy.

Everly and Mr. Calloway have worked together for 3 years.  She’s seen the gold diggers come and go in his life.  When he needs help, she is there to help him.  His last hussy is now back in Shepherd’s life, with his dad.  Shep has to up his game and who does he call?  His trust assistant – Everly.  Together they concoct a fake relationship, that blooms into an engagement, and then bursts into love.  It’s not that easy.  Shep is closed off and bottles up his emotions rather than feel them or deal with them.  Everly is just an amazing woman that any man would be lucky to land.  When the fake relationship snow ball starts hurtling down the mountain will it crash and burn at the end?  Or will it slow down and gently sweep everyone along in it’s wake?

Everly and Shep are adorable.  But I really love Richard, Shep’s dad!  Awe, he’s so sweet and romantic.  Hazel and Nora are amazing too.  I hope they get their own books.  The chemistry and the build up between Shep and Everly is really good.  I swept through this book in a day and just really enjoyed it all.  Writing style kept me hooked.

This is a great summer read, I’ll be adding this to my suggested summer reading list!

Book Review – Bound to the Battle God

When I went to my neighbor’s apartment to investigate strange sounds, I never expected to fall through a portal into another world. Yet here I am, a stranger in an even stranger land… and I’m stranded. In this world, might makes right, men carry swords, and gods walk the earth. Within minutes of arriving, I’m enslaved!

Fun place…

How do I get home? GREAT question. Wish I had an answer!

The one person that might be able to help me is also the one person I want to throttle most. Aron, Lord of Storms, Butcher God of Battle, is my new companion. Or rather, I’m his. As Aron’s anchor to the mortal realm, I’m the one that’s supposed to be guiding him through his exile in the mortal world…

Ha. Joke’s on him. I know nothing about this place!

But Aron and I have a common goal – get home. And we’re bonded – anchor and god – with a bond unlike any other. So we travel together. We bicker. We bathe together. We fight our many, many enemies together. And sure, he’s a god, but he’s also an arrogant jerk. Brawny, smoking hot, irresistible jerk. I should want nothing to do with him. I certainly shouldn’t want to do things to him…

Mortals and gods don’t mix. We stick to the plan and ignore our attraction. Focused, with one goal in mind…

One task…
One goal…

I-oh heck, I’m going to end up kissing him again, aren’t I?

I had a hard time getting into this book, but once I got over the hump I couldn’t put it down. I had a love/hate relationship with Aron.

Faith is unceremoniously dropped into a new realm/era if you will. She is plucked up and sold as a slave – an offering to the Lord of Storms. Only she ends up offering herself to him as an anchor instead of a sacrifice. Through their travels to find the other pieces of Aron; Lord of Storms and Battle, they meet up with other Gods. Faith is not a warrior or a fighter. She is Aron’s anchor to the mortal realm. She must stay alive, to serve Aron. As they pass through the mortal plane, trying to figure out their next step. Faith falls for Aron. Yet doesn’t understand why he is not into her. But God’s don’t love, do they? Faith is the only one who can help Aron ascend to the Aether. Will she sacrifice it all for him? Or will she go back home to Earth?

The Lord of Storms forbids Faith to die, that he will keep her safe. Yet he is not prepared for what lies ahead for him and his anchor. The challenges he must face alone. As well as her challenges to him. He faces a lot of obstacles if he is to make it back in one piece. Can he do it with his army? And what about Faith once he returns home? What is her fate?

Untitled design.png

This story is told by Faith. It’s her struggles and witty comebacks that keeps this story moving along. Because she doesn’t just roll over and take his crap. God or not, he is not her God. Faith has her own agenda as the story progresses and you will be torn in her choices just like she is.

The book is very lengthy and some of the fat could have been trimmed, but honestly, it’s a good book! This is the 2nd book I’ve read by Ruby Dixon. I will read more, she is the queen of making you wait out the good stuff.

Book Review – Summer With My Daddy’s Best Friend

46682287. sy475 Hot, sticky summer heat… ice cold strawberry popsicles… showing off my freshly 18-year-old-body in a too-tight bikini…
I wanted my last summer vacation before I went off to college to be special.
And when my family ended up crammed together in a lakeside cabin with my father’s long-time friend, I got my wish.
Before my vacation was over, I was going to experience more than I ever imagined:
Hungry stares.
Rippling, tan muscles.
My first kiss. My first… everything.
If only it hadn’t been with my dad’s best friend.
And when everyone finds out what we’ve done, our lives are going to change forever.

This is old-school Penny Wylder! You said you wanted more older-man younger-woman romance, and you’re getting it. If you loved Her Dad’s Friend, my break out hit, you’ll definitely love this hot, sizzling summer story! HEA and NO cheating included!

What more could a girl ask for? A few weeks at the beach, with her BFF’s, and her BFF’s dad – who is drool-worthy? Maybe the said dad, could pop her cherry too? That would be perfect for Jenny. Because she is lusting after Ben – her dad’s best friend. A 44-year-old man. While she is a tender 18-year-old. But love is love, right?

This is a novella, quick to read. It all starts with football, then heats up. What is Ben to do? He knows Jenny likes him, but how much? He’ll just have to test her. It’s not much of a test. What does surprise Ben is that Jenny is still holding her V-card? Ben dives in and gives Jenny the summer of her life and his.

It was a good story with a HEA. Not a lot of fluff, right into the story and the rollercoaster of events that follows. Because nothing is every simple or easy!  Give it a try if you like Older man/younger woman.  Or just need a hot read by the pool.  This will keep your temperature set to STEAMING!

Book Review – Big Rock

26252659. sy475 It’s not just the motion of the ocean, ladies. It’s definitely the SIZE of the boat too.

And I’ve got both firing on all cylinders. In fact, I have ALL the right assets. Looks, brains, my own money, and a big c*&k.

You might think I’m an a*&hole. I sound like one, don’t I? I’m hot as sin, rich as heaven, smart as hell and hung like a horse.

Guess what? You haven’t heard my story before. Sure, I might be a playboy, like the NY gossip rags call me. But I’m the playboy who’s actually a great guy. Which makes me one of a kind.

The only trouble is, my dad needs me to cool it for a bit. With conservative investors in town wanting to buy his flagship Fifth Avenue jewelry store, he needs me not only to zip it up, but to look the part of the committed guy. Fine. I can do this for Dad. After all, I’ve got him to thank for the family jewels. So I ask my best friend and business partner to be my fiancée for the next week. Charlotte’s up for it. She has her own reasons for saying yes to wearing this big rock.

And pretty soon all this playing pretend in public leads to no pretending whatsoever in the bedroom, because she just can’t fake the kind of toe-curling, window-shattering orgasmic cries she makes as I take her to new heights between the sheets.

But I can’t seem to fake that I might be feeling something real for her.

What the fuck have I gotten myself into with this…big rock?

BIG ROCK is a standalone, dirty romance novel written from the guy’s POV by NYT Bestselling author Lauren Blakely

This is a friend to lovers romance. Filled with flirty and hot chemistry, witty banter, and lies. Don’t let the lying part get you down, it’s an agreed upon arrangement between Spencer and Charlotte. Only can they keep the agreement, aka fake engagement rolling for a week while Spencer’s dad tries to seel his jewelry store? Can Spencer and Charlotte lie to everyone’s face in order to save the business deal? Or will someone find out and blackmail them? What about their true feelings towards each other?

This is a quick read. I was able to read it in 3.5 hours, while I sat by the pool. I couldn’t put the book down. I was rooting for Spencer and Charlotte from the beginning. They have a connection, chemistry, charisma if you will! I love them as a couple. Spence can be a little dense, like most men. But Charlotte is right there to explain it all to him.

Yes, I’ll be reading the other books in this series!!
