Book Review – Vampire Mate

46028099. sy475 Warrior. Vampire. Soulmate?

The first book in the smoking hot vampire warrior series by L.J. Red.
In the supernatural underworld of Chicago, vampire warrior Lucian has met his match.

Brutally dangerous and scorchingly sexy, Lucian is the leader of the Shadows, elite vampire warriors caught in a deadly battle against the wild and power-hungry vampires who want to rain terror on humankind.

Lucian doesn’t believe in soulmates but from the moment he meets Dana, all he wants is to possess her completely. His iron control is beginning to fray and when it snaps, there’s nothing in the world that will stop him from taking her.

Dana’s a cop on the trail of a blood-crazed vampire tearing through Chicago. She doesn’t want anything to do with vampire politics but when she overhears a plot to kill the leader of the Shadows, she knows she has no choice but to warn him.

Braving the dark, seductive world of the vampire elite, she’s helpless to resist the powerful bond she feels the moment she meets Lucian.

Can they catch the killer before the fire raging between them burns the city down?

Dark themes and steamy, sensual scenes. These alpha male vampires are vicious, brutal warriors who will stop at nothing to protect their fated mates.

Book Review (1).png

I liked it, but yet it didn’t hold my interest the entire time. I started to skim after 50%. It wasn’t hard to figure out who the Monster of Chicago was. I say let the vamps run Chicago – maybe they can clean it up better than humans.

Dana is a cop, she gets the drop on some vampire activity and needs to let the vamps know. Only the vamps and humans don’t get along, unless the vamps are using the human’s for blood. Sneaking in she looks for the Shadow who is going to get whacked. Once she relays the message, she follows the guy who took it and realizes that he’s the Shadow. From there they go on a quest to find the Monster, save the vamps, and win over Chicago.

I wasn’t impressed with Lucian or Dana. Lucian fell flat for me as a vamp. He was moody, he hand fangs, and he drank blood. But there was nothing about him that made me what him to bite me and be his soulmate. Neal on the other hand. I can’t wait to read his story and he only had a small blurb in this story!!

Dana is your stereo typical cop. Lives at the station, has no friends but the people she works with. Always working. I’ve seen and read enough of these characters. Even her bond to Lucian seemed odd to me. Usually when there is a bond, the further away they get they hurt more and more. Dana hurt, but she was so focused on her case that her pain was secondary. To me that should have been the forefront of her problems.

Book Review – Ford’s Fate

43175277As a young vampire, Ford had experienced more than those much older than him. The love of his life left him. He fell for his best friend. People he considered friends were killed. Blood was on his hands.

Through it all, he never forgot his first love. The one who stole his heart then shattered it when he least expected.

When Sienna left Ford and mated with another, she thought she’d found her companion for eternity. Except, her life didn’t play out that way. Her mate was killed, leaving Sienna a shell of the shifter she once was.

Ford wanted Sienna back, but the choice had to be hers. Then her life was in danger, and his plans changed in an instant. All that mattered was keeping her safe.

Reaching a crossroad, they were helpless to fate’s plan. Ford was left standing before Sienna, wearing his heart on his sleeve, waiting to see what she’d do next.

Feet Under Books!

3.5 stars

I had a hard time getting into the book, but once I did, it was enjoyable.

Sienna and Ford are fighting a losing battle. The battle of Love.

Sienna feels guilty over losing her mate, Eli and possibly having another mate, Ford. It doesn’t seem fair to her. Yet, when Ford needs her Sienna is there for him, take care of him, protecting him, and loving him. Is it all too late when she realizes how much she does love him? She can’t let go of the past to step forward into the future. Is she ready to embrace her future? Or will the ghosts of her past keep dragging her under?

Ford’s life is hollow without Sienna. He’s alive, but not feeling. He’s a walking vampire, with no desire for life. He feeds because he has too. He lives because his brother Sol won’t leave him the hell alone. Ford is just existing. When she steps back into his life, is Ford ready? Is Ford willing to take the scraps Sienna is willing to offer or would it turn into something better?

This book tore at my heart. I felt terrible for Ford and what he was dealing with. As for Sienna, I was annoyed with her because of her back and forth. Her feelings are obvious, but she doesn’t trust herself and lets the influence of others override her choices. Some parts I felt like were a repeat of what Sienna had just gone over, it got redundant. Otherwise, I did enjoy the store, the characters, and the writing. I will continue on with this series.

6 Questions With…DD Prince

Questsions with....1 (1)

DD Prince!  Hi and welcome.  Thank you for answering my 6 Questions.  About a month ago I read DD’s book – Nectar.  It’s a dark romance between a vamp and his pot of gold.  Can he control himself around her?  Does she want him too?  Yes, I’ll be reading book #2 and #3 in this series.

DD Prince writes dark, dirty, and deliciously addictive romance novels with alpha antiheroes.
When you start a DD Prince book, you rarely get a quick read. Most books 400+ pages.
She loves talking about books she wrote, her favourite books (she reads A LOT), sharing eye candy, etc.
Her most popular series to date is the Dominator series, a dark mafia romance that currently consists of 3 books and 1 spin-off (Saved). On the 4th anniversary, she released a book 1.5 (novella).
1. Do your novels carry a message?
Definitely. I usually write antiheroes and sometimes they change. Sometimes, they find peace with their decisions and remain who they are at their core. My stories are all about love, but life lessons and messages tend to naturally come through, too.
2. If given the opportunity to do it all over again, would you change anything in your books?
I see my growth as a writer in my later books, but I expect I’ll see it in another few years when I look at today’s books, so I think it’s all part of the journey and I’ve tried to learn from it all. I’ll keep learning, too. I look forward to gathering wisdom along the way!

3. How do you see writing? As a hobby or a passion?
Both.  And more. It’s an outlet. It’s fun. My favourite part of the process is  The Zone, where I get to the point in writing a story that’s a lot like reading a book you just can’t put down. For me, when I get to a certain point,  I can’t wait to get back to it each morning and have to tear myself away to go to sleep. That’s my favourite part! And beyond a hobby and a passion, it’s a living, too. Writing is so many things to me. And, I’d do it for free so it’s absolutely fantastic that I get paid to do this.

4. Do you believe attractive book covers help in its sales?
Definitely. My first book was hideous. Redoing the covers kicked the sales up a notch.

5. What do you do in your free time?
Read. Plan more books 🙂

6. Are you friends with other writers?
Yes. Over the internet at least. And I’m about to attend my first signing so some of those internet friends are about to become in-regular-life friends. I’ve got a few great writing pals that help with the feelings of isolation. It’s awesome to have writer friends to bounce ideas off, to collaborate with on marketing, to commiserate with or share exciting news with.
DD’s book Nectar is Free on KU
Nectar: (Nectar Trilogy Book 1) by [Prince, DD]Want a new book boyfriend that bites? Come and meet Tristan.
Like captive dark romance? Jealous & possessive alphas who will chase down the wayward heroine who thinks she needs to escape? Get hot and bothered by sexy vampires? The Nectar Trilogy could be right up your street!Kyla Spencer refuses to feel. Feelings are messy;
they’re painful;
they hold you back.Due to a painful past she keeps everyone at arm’s length. When the going gets tough, Kyla can deal. But when the going makes her try to feel…she gets going.

But when she is abducted and presented as a gift to Tristan, a bored vampire prince who is destined to become something akin to a king, she has to face a few facts. Beyond facing that vampires are real Kyla has to face emotions that Tristan won’t let her run from. And why the heck does he smell and taste like dessert, anyway?

This is a dark romance.
Tristan is a vampire with a ravenous but insatiable appetite. For ten years he hasn’t once had his hunger sated. He feeds constantly, looking for satisfaction and because his favourite way to feed is during sex he goes through a lot of women. But when Kyla is brought to him as a gift to celebrate a surprise promotion that gets him to the last rung of the ladder before becoming king his world is turned on its axis.

From the second their eyes lock he knows there’s something different about her. After he gets a taste of Kyla, neither of them will ever be the same.

This is the first book in a series about blood, lust, bloodlust, danger, sex, deceit, inner turmoil, love, and finding your true self.

“Between the taste of you, the taste of your blood, and the way you look at me, I haven’t felt this… alive… in… maybe ever.”

“Dimples, blue eyes, tall, dark, and movie-star beautiful? The man was almost totally constructed out of kryptonite. Almost. The fangs? Yeah, not so much…”

This book is book #1 in a trilogy and it does end on a cliffhanger.
Books 2 and 3 (or a discounted box set) are also available.

Book Review – Hell is a Harem by Kim Faulks

39692723

A human, a hellhound, and an archangel walk into a bar…
Sounds like the first line to a joke, right?
Only it’s no joke…it’s my damned life.
Witches are running riot.
S

hifters are on the hunt.

Demons are eating humans.

There’s a new drug on the street. Sigil is dark and deadly…to the paranormal kind, opening up their second sight, urging them to maim, torture, and kill.
And the bodies are piling up.

For me it’s an opp

ortunity to get off The Circle’s shit list and back in the black, because the Circle’s Paranormal First Response Squad is more than my job, it’s my legacy.
So here I am, scoping out the only known distribution site, a hell-raising bar called Wicked, trying like hell to keep my eyes off the archangel who refuses my advances, and the hellhound who wants me six ways to Sunday.
He whispers dangerous things that sets my pulse racing, turning toward the human, Inspector Titus Banks, and archangel Gabriel, who gives me a wink.

Oh my damn heart…this is gonna be a long-ass night.
Hell really is a Harem.

*This is a dark reverse harem urban fantasy series. If you love your stories hot with a whole lotta sass then this book is for you. Welcome to the dark side.

Lorn is a witch, well that’s what she’s been told all her life by her grandma, Alma. Just a witch, nothing more or less. She has a shit job with The Circle, that barely keeps her alive.  Things start to change when a new drug – Sigil hits the streets. It’s changing the supes and Lorn needs to find out why.  Titus is the first to offer her help with finding the source of the drug, but he wants help too.  Rival, the hell hound shows up – she called to him and he came to her.  Gabriel is her father’s friend, he’s been with her for years.  With the help of her harem, she will meet her father – Lucifer and figure out what is going on. Will her old lover, Redemption get in her way and stop her from meeting her father? Or will he take the fall for everything bad going on?

Lorn

This is a fast-paced story that will keep you hooked from the beginning to the end. I love all 3 of her men, but Gabriel and his pink and diamonds hold a special place in my heart! OMG!  You read Lorn grow and come into more powers.  You read how the men around her are weary of her, yet are unwilling to leave her.  They become her lovers, her family.  It’s what Lorn has always wanted and needed. Can she keep them safe?  Can they keep her safe?   And what about the drugs?

There are a lot of unanswered questions, that will hopefully be answered in the next book.  Like who is supplying Sigil?  Why was Redemption framed?  Why do people think Lucifer would kill Lorn?  Why is Alma up in arms?

Just be aware, that this is a cliff hanger.  There are some HEA moments, but it’s not all boxed up with a pretty bow on it.  Will I be reading book #2?  Hell yes!
