Book Review – Bound to the Battle God

When I went to my neighbor’s apartment to investigate strange sounds, I never expected to fall through a portal into another world. Yet here I am, a stranger in an even stranger land… and I’m stranded. In this world, might makes right, men carry swords, and gods walk the earth. Within minutes of arriving, I’m enslaved!

Fun place…

How do I get home? GREAT question. Wish I had an answer!

The one person that might be able to help me is also the one person I want to throttle most. Aron, Lord of Storms, Butcher God of Battle, is my new companion. Or rather, I’m his. As Aron’s anchor to the mortal realm, I’m the one that’s supposed to be guiding him through his exile in the mortal world…

Ha. Joke’s on him. I know nothing about this place!

But Aron and I have a common goal – get home. And we’re bonded – anchor and god – with a bond unlike any other. So we travel together. We bicker. We bathe together. We fight our many, many enemies together. And sure, he’s a god, but he’s also an arrogant jerk. Brawny, smoking hot, irresistible jerk. I should want nothing to do with him. I certainly shouldn’t want to do things to him…

Mortals and gods don’t mix. We stick to the plan and ignore our attraction. Focused, with one goal in mind…

One task…
One goal…
Focused!

I-oh heck, I’m going to end up kissing him again, aren’t I?

4 Stars

I had a hard time getting into this book, but once I got over the hump I couldn’t put it down. I had a love/hate relationship with Aron.

Faith is unceremoniously dropped into a new realm/era if you will. She is plucked up and sold as a slave – an offering to the Lord of Storms. Only she ends up offering herself to him as an anchor instead of a sacrifice. Through their travels to find the other pieces of Aron; Lord of Storms and Battle, they meet up with other Gods. Faith is not a warrior or a fighter. She is Aron’s anchor to the mortal realm. She must stay alive, to serve Aron. As they pass through the mortal plane, trying to figure out their next step. Faith falls for Aron. Yet doesn’t understand why he is not into her. But God’s don’t love, do they? Faith is the only one who can help Aron ascend to the Aether. Will she sacrifice it all for him? Or will she go back home to Earth?

The Lord of Storms forbids Faith to die, that he will keep her safe. Yet he is not prepared for what lies ahead for him and his anchor. The challenges he must face alone. As well as her challenges to him. He faces a lot of obstacles if he is to make it back in one piece. Can he do it with his army? And what about Faith once he returns home? What is her fate?

Untitled design.png

This story is told by Faith. It’s her struggles and witty comebacks that keeps this story moving along. Because she doesn’t just roll over and take his crap. God or not, he is not her God. Faith has her own agenda as the story progresses and you will be torn in her choices just like she is.

The book is very lengthy and some of the fat could have been trimmed, but honestly, it’s a good book! This is the 2nd book I’ve read by Ruby Dixon. I will read more, she is the queen of making you wait out the good stuff.

Book Review – Big Rock

26252659. sy475 It’s not just the motion of the ocean, ladies. It’s definitely the SIZE of the boat too.

And I’ve got both firing on all cylinders. In fact, I have ALL the right assets. Looks, brains, my own money, and a big c*&k.

You might think I’m an a*&hole. I sound like one, don’t I? I’m hot as sin, rich as heaven, smart as hell and hung like a horse.

Guess what? You haven’t heard my story before. Sure, I might be a playboy, like the NY gossip rags call me. But I’m the playboy who’s actually a great guy. Which makes me one of a kind.

The only trouble is, my dad needs me to cool it for a bit. With conservative investors in town wanting to buy his flagship Fifth Avenue jewelry store, he needs me not only to zip it up, but to look the part of the committed guy. Fine. I can do this for Dad. After all, I’ve got him to thank for the family jewels. So I ask my best friend and business partner to be my fiancée for the next week. Charlotte’s up for it. She has her own reasons for saying yes to wearing this big rock.

And pretty soon all this playing pretend in public leads to no pretending whatsoever in the bedroom, because she just can’t fake the kind of toe-curling, window-shattering orgasmic cries she makes as I take her to new heights between the sheets.

But I can’t seem to fake that I might be feeling something real for her.

What the fuck have I gotten myself into with this…big rock?

BIG ROCK is a standalone, dirty romance novel written from the guy’s POV by NYT Bestselling author Lauren Blakely

This is a friend to lovers romance. Filled with flirty and hot chemistry, witty banter, and lies. Don’t let the lying part get you down, it’s an agreed upon arrangement between Spencer and Charlotte. Only can they keep the agreement, aka fake engagement rolling for a week while Spencer’s dad tries to seel his jewelry store? Can Spencer and Charlotte lie to everyone’s face in order to save the business deal? Or will someone find out and blackmail them? What about their true feelings towards each other?

This is a quick read. I was able to read it in 3.5 hours, while I sat by the pool. I couldn’t put the book down. I was rooting for Spencer and Charlotte from the beginning. They have a connection, chemistry, charisma if you will! I love them as a couple. Spence can be a little dense, like most men. But Charlotte is right there to explain it all to him.

Yes, I’ll be reading the other books in this series!!

Book Review – Bittersweet

30296362 (1)The new series is set in Vermont. True North is populated by the tough, outdoorsy mountain men that populate the Green Mountain State. They raise cows and they grow apples. They chop a lot of wood, especially when they need to blow off steam. (Beards are optional but encouraged.)

If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the orchard.

The last person Griffin Shipley expects to find stuck in a ditch on his Vermont country road is his ex-hookup. Five years ago they’d shared a couple of steamy nights together. But that was a lifetime ago.

At twenty-seven, Griff is now the accidental patriarch of his family farm. Even his enormous shoulders feel the strain of supporting his mother, three siblings, and a dotty grandfather. He doesn’t have time for the sorority girl who’s shown up expecting to buy his harvest at half price.

Vermont was never in Audrey Kidder’s travel plans. Neither was Griff Shipley. But she needs a second chance with the restaurant conglomerate employing her. Okay—a fifth chance. And no self-righteous lumbersexual farmer will stand in her way.

They’re adversaries. They want entirely different things from life. Too bad their sexual chemistry is as hot as Audrey’s top secret enchilada sauce, and then some.

5 Stars of Amazingness!

Griff, Griff, Griff, Griff, Griff! Yummy! My new book boyfriend. Yes, you want to read him too, because he is freaking amazing. I wish I could swing by Amazon and pick him up! Oh, wait I did.

Griff and Audrey know each other from college days. He remembers her as a winding road on a hot summer day. Yet, she disappeared before it all began. Imagine his surprise when she shows up on his farm. It’s like they never separated. They fall back into the same easy give and take as college. Only Griff has more on his mind than football. He is now running his family farm and orchard. He’s hoping to make a splash in the cider world and in Audrey’s life too. She’s only in Vermont for her job, then she’ll go back to Boston. How can Griff make her stay? Does she want too? He wants her in his bed every night, waking up to her in the morning. When things go south, he has to fight for what he wants and that is Audrey – no matter what!

Being a chef is all she ever wanted. Yet her job keeps sending her on errands to run, pick up organic produce for pennies on the pound. This is not what she wants to do. A girl’s got to start somewhere. When she runs amuck on Griff’s farm, she isn’t prepared for him and the response her body gives. They hooked up in college, nothing more. It was just a fling. Or was it? The more time she spends with Grumpy Griff and his family, the more she falls in love with them all. This is the family she has always craved. Griff warms her bed at night and during the day she rides around the countryside looking for produce. When she is called back to Boston for work, she leaves without a goodbye. Does she want a life with Griff in rural Vermont? What about her dream of being a chef?

I fell in love with Griff from the moment I read him. OMG! You need to read him. Give him a gentle try. He’ll be patient and understand. WOW! What a man. You will fall for him too, I promise. I love the writing in this book, I love the characters, even the secondary cast and crew. Thankfully I don’t have to wait for another book, because this book is #1 in the series! SQUEEE, so excited. Super excited. Um, yes I will be reading the rest of the books in the series.

Excerpt:

“Lightweight.” I feel the couch sink down as Logan sits down at my other side.

“Hey,” I grumble, slitting my eyes open. “I actually had like three drinks and a shot tonight. That’s a lot.”

“It is. I’ll change that lightweight to a lush then.”

“Asshole.” I try to throw a pillow at him but just end up smacking him in the face. I push myself up and laugh. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to.”

“Now you’ve done it.” Logan grabs another pillow and chucks it at me. Dexter gets way too excited and pounces on Logan, with one of his large paws landing right between his legs. Logan doubles over in pain, and I laugh even harder.

“Who’s the asshole now?” he chokes out.

“Don’t call Dexter-Wexter an asshole,” I gasp in fake shock and slip my fingers under Dexter’s collar, gently pulling him back and off the couch. I get up to grab the pillow I threw and trip when Dexter tries to do a flying leap back onto the couch.

I don’t know how he moves so fast, but I’m grateful he did. Because I’m still too drunk to have a good reaction time, and I’m about ready to fall backwards onto the glass coffee table.

Logan’s arms fold around my waist at the last second. He pulls me to his chest and straightens up. I have one hand on his chest and the other is gripping his bicep. Which is strong. Firm. Warm, just like the rest of him.

A second passes, and we’re still standing there like this. I splay my fingers over his chest and turn my head up, looking into his brown eyes. Inhaling deep, my breasts crush against his body. His hand that’s on the small of my back inches lower, and his fingertips press into my waist.

Heat flashes through me, unlike anything I’ve felt around him before. I’ve worked hard to keep these kind of reactions from happening, but my whiskey-soaked mind has lost all its will right now.

“You okay?” he asks, though by now it’s obvious I am.

“Yeah. Lost my balance.”

“No shit.”

I purse my lips and go to shove him away. Dexter is on the floor behind him now, and Logan trips over the dog and falls back onto the couch, taking me down with him. That same heat ripples through me again, making my skin break out in goosebumps. My heart lurches and is beating so fast I’m sure Logan can hear it.

I should push him away.

Run and hide.

I definitely shouldn’t be inching closer, taking note of the way his cologne smells, or the fact that his shirt is pulled up a bit, exposing a few inches of his abdomen.

I shouldn’t want more.

Our eyes meet and I part my lips, feeling my heart beating faster and faster in my chest. I know one kiss is all it will take to change things between us, and the thought terrifies me.

My life has been one mistake after another, and each seems to try its damnedest to outdo the last. I love what we have between us. Logan is my best friend. I don’t want to mess that up.

But Lord have mercy on me right now. His heart is hammering along with mine, and he looks at me with an intensity I’ve never seen before. One that heats me from the inside out, melting the panties right off me. My face is moving slowly toward his, eyes zeroed in on his perfect lips. He closes his eyes, long lashes coming together, and inhales, pushing his chest up against mine.

6 Feet Under Books (1)

4 Stars

Four lives forever entwined due to one very bad man.

Andrea is searching for the man who killed her father. She is so close to finding him, so close to ending this nightmare. Only to have him slip out of her grasp. Needing to escape quickly she is befriended by two men looking for the same man, Xander Kyrkos – with the same plan as Andrea. Find and destroy. It’s not long for Andrea to fall into a routine with the two guys, in bed and out of it.

Holden & Randall are ex-SEALS. They’ve been in battle more times than they can count. They’ve also shared a lot of things. Even women. So when they share Andrea it’s no big deal to them, no jealousy, no greed, just lust. But they can’t lose their main focus – Xander. He screwed them over and killed half their men, just because. Now it was time for paybacks.

Marcus, Army Ranger, finds Andrea and the two men. It’s not hard. He is an ex-employee of Kyrkos and has details that the others don’t. He’s also on the run from the Indigo gang because he left them. Andrea remembers him from her night at Kyrkos’ house. It was Marcus! All 3 men fall into an easy rhythm of life with Andrea and each other. Their main goal is to find Kyrkos and destroy him. But what happens when Xander kidnaps Andrea and figures out who she is? Can her 3 men find her and save her in time?

This is a face paced book, with lots of action – fighting and sexual action. The plot of the book was good, the ending surprised me because usually, that’s not what happens. But this is a book and you can end it how you want. I think out of all her men Marcus is my fav, then Holden, and finally Randall – he’s crazy.
